History
The Doric Temple at Kardaki is the best-preserved example of ancient temples in Corfu.
It is a temple of small dimensions (11.91 x 25.5 m.) built during the late archaic years. The temple had six columns on each of its narrow sides and twelve on each of its long sides, while inside the nave there was an altar. The occasional association of the temple with the worship of Apollo, Asclepius, or Poseidon has not been confirmed by excavations.
The southern and western part of the church has two walls, which were built during the English occupation of Corfu and hold the ground, while behind them two ancient walls that are intended to protect the monument are also preserved.
